Just a tip: A taxi from either airport will cost you just as much as renting a car for the day. Taxi’s are expensive in Long Island because gas prices are higher than most countries. This is Long Island and it is hard to get new cars to the island, so don’t expect brand new rental cars like you normally receive in the USA.
FROM DEADMAN'S CAY AIRPORT: (scroll down from Stella Marais)
From Deadman’s Cay Airport: Leave the airport and come to the main road and turn right (going north). The main road is Queens Hwy and it runs the length of the island north to south. Go approximate 11 miles (passing homes that have statues out front, etc.) and you will come into Salt Pond. You will see an ESSO gas station on the left and further on you will see a yellow building with a grocery store on the right. Keep going about 3 miles and you will see a sign on the left hand side of the road that says Thompson Bay.
At the top of the hill
At the top of a hill you will see the St. Joseph Angelican Church on the left (see photo at right). The beautiful scenic view past the church is the peninsula that our beachhouse is located on. Our house however is located on the north side of this peninsula so you cannot see it yet.
BOTTOM OF HILL
Go down the hill and at the bottom of the hill you will see a sign on the left stating “Tiny’s” turn left here onto this dirt road. If you get to Thompson Bay Inn on the left or Club Washington Restaurant on the right, you went too far, turn around and go back until you see the back of the Tiny’s sign. Go down this dirt road about 1 1/2 miles. You will see a sign for Tiny’s on the left, we are the next driveway on the right with a white gate. Drive down the driveway and you can park the car here. Note there are rocks forming a square to the right of the house. This is where the septic tank is buried so please do not drive your car here.
Follow the purple line
Once out of Deadman’s Cay Airport, turn right on the main road (called Queen’s highway). This road runs the length of the island.
FROM STELLA MARAIS AIRPORT:
After leaving the airport, turn left to get to the main road, Queen’s Highway. Go south on Queen’s Highway by taking another left. You will pass through Millerton then Simms. You’ll see two churches and a post office in Simms. In McCann’s you’ll go past the Club Washington Restaurant on the left and shortly afterwards you will be able to see our villa through a clearing on the right (however, unless you have already been there, you may not be able to recognize it). Keep going and you will see another white building which contains restaurant called Thompson Bay Restaurant on your right.
GO UNTIL YOU SEE THOMPSON BAY INN (closed and damaged) on the right
Thompson bay Inn is a blue building that is run down. There is a boat on land beside it.
Turn at Tiny's sign
Right after Thompson Bay Inn take the dirt road to your right. There will be a sign at this dirt road (facing the opposite way you are coming from) which will read 'Tinys' (see picture above) and a palm tree. Go down this dirt road about 1 1/2 miles and the villa is up this road on the right. Up the dirt road, you will see a sign for Tinys on the left, we are the next driveway on the right with a white gate. Drive down the driveway and you can park the car here. How to work the lock
Punch in your code, turn the dial, then turn the doorknob to enter. To leave, simply close the door, push the top button, then turn the dial. Codes are the same for both blue doors.
NOTE: If you are staying in the master bedroom upstairs, you will want to take your suitcase up the outdoor staircase, bypass the screen door (which we keep locked for wind when no one is there) and go to the blue door.
